what to do in chicago this weekend
Nestled in the heart of downtown Chicago with the city's iconic skyline as a backdrop, the Skating Ribbon at Maggie Daley Park offers a winter experience like no other. Skaters can lace up and glide along a scenic, winding ice path that's double the length of a typical rink lap. Due to the Ribbon's popularity, advance reservations are recommended, as slots fill up fast.
Admission is free Monday through Thursday and for 11 a.m. sessions on Fridays through Sundays (a $5 fee applies for other time slots Friday through Sunday, as well as holidays) if you bring your own skates. Need to rent skates? Entry costs $17–$23. Open through March (weather permitting), the Ribbon also hosts holiday hours on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.
