Two Injured in Structural Incident at Radius Chicago

CHICAGO — Two concertgoers were injured early Saturday morning at Radius Chicago after a non-structural wooden beam fell from the ceiling during a live performance. The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. at the music venue located at 640 W. Cermak Rd.
According to the Chicago Fire Department, a 29-year-old man sustained shoulder and neck pain, while a 26-year-old woman suffered a laceration to the back of her head. Both were transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
Radius Chicago issued a statement expressing concern for the injured attendees and reaffirming its commitment to safety. “We are heartbroken and our thoughts are with them as we wish them a speedy recovery,” the venue stated. “We take this incident extremely seriously and have been in contact with city officials. We’ve engaged a structural engineer who determined there are no additional safety concerns at this time.”
The venue also announced that additional precautionary measures would be implemented for upcoming events to ensure guest safety.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. The Chicago Fire Department is leading the inquiry, though no further details have been released.
Radius Chicago, known for hosting high-profile music acts, has continued operations while cooperating with officials to assess any necessary structural improvements.
