Evanston Folk Festival 2026 Brings Boutique Lakefront Music Experience to Chicago’s North Shore

March 21, 2026

The Evanston Folk Festival is officially returning to the North Shore on September 12–13, 2026, bringing a stacked lineup of nationally recognized folk artists to the lakefront. Headliners including Indigo Girls, Trampled by Turtles, Josh Ritter, and Valerie June are set to perform at Dawes Park in Evanston, offering one of the most curated and laid-back music experiences in the Chicago area.

Now entering its third year, the festival continues to build momentum as a boutique alternative to larger, more crowded events. With more than 30 artists expected across multiple stages, attendees can expect a mix of solo performances, acoustic sets, and full-band shows, all set against the backdrop of Lake Michigan. Festival hours are expected to run from late morning through the evening each day, with additional programming and kickoff events planned around the weekend.

Organizers have positioned the Evanston Folk Festival as more than just a concert—it’s an immersive cultural experience centered on storytelling, artistry, and community. Its smaller footprint allows for more intimate performances and a closer connection between artists and attendees, something that continues to set it apart from larger festivals in the region.

A kickoff show is also scheduled for September 11 at a nearby venue, giving fans an extra opportunity to experience the weekend’s lineup before the main event begins. Additional details, including the full daily schedule and set times, are expected to be released closer to the event.

As the Chicago festival scene continues to grow, the Evanston Folk Festival is quickly carving out its place as a must-attend event for fans of folk, Americana, and roots music—delivering a high-quality, scenic, and community-driven experience just minutes from the city.
