Whether you're running or cheering, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon is a must-see event every October. This world-famous marathon draws 45,000 runners and 1.7 million spectators, with participants from all 50 states and over 100 countries. The 26.2-mile course winds through 29 diverse Chicago neighborhoods, offering plenty of spots to watch and cheer.
**2024 Chicago Marathon**
Date: Sunday, October 13, 2024
Start: Waves begin at 7:20 a.m. at Grant Park
**Best Viewing Spots:**
- **Early Race**: Grand Avenue between Columbus Drive and State Street (Mile 1)
- **Finish Line**: Bank of America Cheer Zone at Michigan Avenue and Roosevelt Road
- **Fun Stops**: Cheer on runners in Pilsen (Mile 19), Chinatown (Mile 21), and Northalsted (Miles 7 and 9)
**Helping Runners Finish**
Give runners a final boost at Mile 20.5 (Halsted), Mile 23 (35th-Bronzeville-IIT), or Mile 23.25 (Sox-35th).
**Meeting Runners Post-Race**
Reunite with your runner in Grant Park’s designated areas after the race.
